Finite Engineering Designs Stage for World Series Champs

When the Kansas City Royals began the 2015 season, they were coming off a World Series loss to the Giants. It had been a frustrating ending to a great 2014 postseason, when the Royals had swept the Baltimore Orioles in the American League Championship Series, then took the World Series to a decisive Game 7 before relinquishing the World Series title to the Giants.

The question of 2015 demanded an answer: could Kansas City do it again, but successfully bring home the World Series trophy?

You already know the answer: In five games, the Kansas City Royals defeated the New York Mets on November 1, bringing Royals fans the World Series Championship after a 30-year drought since their last win in 1985.

Celebration Fit for World Series Royalty: Just two days after their big win, the city would gather for a parade celebration. The victory party attracted 800,000 revelers, all thrilled to congratulate the 2015 Kansas City Royals.

Companies across the region came together to offer skills and supplies for the victory party. One of them was Progressive Products, Inc. (PPI). PPI would design an element of the celebration that served as a focal point for speeches at the event: the center stage.

PPI recruited Finite Engineering to partner with them in the design of the stage. It had to meet strict safety standards and design requirements, but it also had to look like a stage fit for the occasion. With Finite Engineering, PPI was equipped to design and build, then provide the platform that would serve as the setting for the biggest celebration Kansas City baseball fans had seen in decades.

Perhaps best of all, the work was all done right in Kansas. Both PPI and Finite Engineering are local companies, so designing and building the stage was more than just another project. It was a work of Kansas City Royals fans who just happen to be designers and engineers.

Setting the Stage: While the parade brought hordes of excited fans, the highlight of the celebration was the gathering at Union Station, where the stage was set up in the center of a sea of Royals blue that was featured on the cover of The Kansas City Star the next day.

Some say the most memorable moment of the victory occurred on the stage, where Jonny Gomes, an outfielder for the Royals delivered a passionate speech.
